You don't need any previous experience to undertake the course; however, you will need to have a willingness to learn and the desire to succeed.

There are no formal prerequisites needed to enrol in this course; however, as this is a level 4 qualification it is expected that you will already have skills and knowledge to a level 3 (e.g. that you have worked as an accountant/bookkeeper, completed a Certificate IV finance course or undertaken a course in bookkeeping). We will provide you with an Excel Workbook and a Master Bookkeeping Guide but if you do not have sufficient prior skills in accounting and/or bookkeeping then you may not be able to acheive the requirements of this course. For instance, this course does not teach you about accounts payable/receivable or preparing receipts or journals. You will already need to know these things.

  • knowledge/skills of accounts or bookkeeping
  • a good command of English plus numeracy skills
  • a good level of computer skills
  • access to a computer with Excel software
  • as little as an hour a week to learn

Recognition of Prior Learning: If you feel you may be able to gain credit exemptions for one or more modules, please contact the College for an initial discussion and RPL application. You will need to provide enough evidence to show that your knowledge/skills are current.
