Welcome to Amanda’s engaging world of PR and Event Management!

Amanda has a wealth of experience in all areas of public relations, event management and the hospitality industry. After completing the City and Guilds of London hospitality course at the InterContinental Hotel School, she had the opportunity to expand her skills and knowledge while studying and working in diverse areas at the InterContinental Hotel for instance purchasing, food and beverage, human resources, conference sales and functions.

The desire to attain more knowledge and skills in the hospitality industry, in particular coordinating events, generated a position as a Function Sales Coordinator at the Hilton Sydney. This gave Amanda a chance to learn all aspects of event management and PR from a hotel perspective. A highlight during her career at the Hilton Sydney was orchestrating the 2000 Olympic Games AT&T (Official Sponsor for US Olympic Team) VIP Hospitality Program.

Following four years at the Hilton Sydney, Amanda expanded her passion for event management and jumped at the opportunity to work for a large corporate organisation, Australian Business Chamber, as one of their Event Managers. This role allowed Amanda to develop an extensive portfolio of event management skills including coordinating up to 250 events per year ranging from trade shows, exhibitions, meetings, conferences and gala dinners. Through her time at Australian Business Chamber, Amanda was fortunate to produce a number of events from start to finish such as the Rugby World Cup Event in conjunction with the Australian Trade Commission, Small Business Month with the Department of State and Regional Development, China Guangdong event (1500 delegates) and the Australian Business Limited Annual Dinner (500 delegates).

In pursuit of widening Amanda’s experience in event management, an opportunity emerged to work with Sport Knowledge Australia as an Event Manager in the sporting field. This position allowed Amanda to project manage key corporate leadership programmes such as the Sydney Rooster and compose high profile events as the MEMOS (Marketing of Olympic Sport Organisations) with the Australian Olympic Committee.

Whilst working on the MEMOS event, Amanda had to train and oversee three event management graduates from The University of Technology, Sydney.Throughout this process of training, Amanda gained such delight in teaching these students, she began to acquire the need to explore the option of training other students.

“After eight years of being exposed to all aspects and industries of public relations and event management,” says Amanda, “the opportunity to impart my knowledge and expertise to others is a true gift.”

Amanda loves to train, teach, tutor and mentor others who are looking to enter the public relations and/or event management industry. She prides herself on her exemplary interpersonal skills and her ability to keep students motivated.

This is without doubt an exciting and unique opportunity to have a top class event manager as your tutor.
