Welcome to Cathryn’s adventurous world of child care!

Cathryn Bennett holds a Bachelor of Teaching in Early Childhood and has been working in the early childhood sector for the past 16 years. During this time Cathryn has worked in early childhood settings as a teacher, director and children’s services manager. Her experience encompasses a range of service types, including private, community based and local government services. Cathryn has worked within long day care, preschool, family day care and OOSH in rural, remote and metropolitan areas.

Counselling and training are my passion,” says Cathryn. “Being able to combine the two in my current work role is incredibly rewarding.”

Cathryn expanded her skill set by completing a Certificate IV Assessment and Workplace Training, and combined her directors’ role with delivering the Certificate III and Diploma Community Services, Children’s Services at TAFE. Cathryn then moved into a role delivering training and support to early childhood professionals. This led to a career pathway fostering skilled early childhood professionals and promoting effective management of children’s services.

“Providing support for early childhood professionals and promoting effective management of children’s services is my passion,” says Cathryn. “Being able to
make a difference in children’s lives is incredibly rewarding.”

Cathryn currently works directly with early childhood services and staff, providing support for them to improve their practices and deliver high quality programs to the children in their care. Through mentoring, training, sharing knowledge, demonstrating skills and promoting self reflection, Cathryn aims to motivate these early childhood professionals to make a difference in the lives of children.

Whether it is an early learning or adult learning environment, Cathryn believes a ‘hands on’ approach is imperative to achieving success—she aims to ensure her training sessions always reflect current practical strategies and experiences.

Cathryn loves the challenge of training students to become industry professionals and sharing her wealth of knowledge.

When delivering training, I encourage all learners to participate at a level that best suits them,” says Cathryn. “I foster an interactive learning environment so I constantly promote open communication and feedback with my students.”

Cathryn ensures her own professional development and learning is up to date by attending seminars, conferences, network groups, receiving online news and updates from peak early childhood organisations and maintains professional memberships.

This is a wonderful opportunity to take advantage of Cathryn’s knowledge and experience.
