Welcome to David’s exciting business of travel!

David Haley is a licensed travel agent and owns and operates a business called CRC Travel. CRC specialises in eight destinations and as such can concentrate its efforts on these destinations and offer clients specific advice. CRC Travel also operates a number of corporate accounts and is happy to assist clients with any travel related enquiry.

David has worked in the travel industry for 25 years and commenced his career working for P&O Cruises and later CTC Cruise lines. During the early 1980s David was a tour manager with Viva Holidays where he escorted groups on trips to the USA, Europe and Asia. This role required an extensive knowledge of all destinations visited, as commentary was delivered whilst on tour. During the mid 1980s David moved to Thomas Cook travel where he became manager of the ‘Groups and Incentives’ division. This entailed the negotiation, reservation and operation of large group tours to all parts of the world.

During this time David trained in all aspects of travel operations. He then became a sales executive for a major hotel chain, visiting travel agents and companies to discuss hotel rates and facilities.
In 1990 David was appointed manager of The Canberra Tourism Bureau (Sydney Office). With the closure of the tourist bureau he decided to open his own business and so in 1991 David was granted his travel agent’s license. He has been running a successful travel agent business for the past fourteen years.

David understands all aspects of setting up and managing a travel agent, and he is keen to pass on his years of expertise to others who wish to enter the business.

David says,

“Over many years in travel and tourism, I have worked in all areas of the industry. I have met many fascinating people and travelled the four corners of the world. With hard work and the right attitude there are no limits to the success you can achieve. If I could go back to the beginning and have my choices all over again I would choose only one career—and that would be travel and tourism."

David is also a qualified trainer and assessor in accordance with VETAB requirements and holds the Certificate lV in Assessment and Workplace Training. As such, David offers training to persons wishing to enter the industry and to persons already employed in travel who need their skills updated.
