Welcome to Frances’s exciting world of travel!

After completing her Diploma in Travel and Tourism Frances started work for a small independently owned company specialising in retail travel, with a particular emphasis on travel to Africa, South America and India. During her time there, Frances gained valuable training as a Junior Domestic Consultant. As part of her role, Frances undertook a numer of educational trips to destinations like Africa, USA and Fiji which helped her to build up her international knowledge.

For the next four and a half years Frances continued her career with Brisbane-based Travelworld, taking on the enviable position of International Corporate Leisure Consultant. She then moved to Sydney and worked as a Senior Corporate Leisure Consultant for several corporate travel companies such as American Express Business Travel. She also worked for various small to medium sized companies specialising in the meetings sector of the industry. When employed at CIM (Conference Incentive Management) and The Virtuoso Group, she worked onsite in Cairns and Kuala Lumpur overseeing the operations of specific conferences.

I love the travel and tourism industry,” says Frances. “Like everyone else working in this business, it is a dream industry.”

Frances believes that, like herself, anyone wishing to enter the travel and tourism industry needs to have completed a travel and tourism course which provides the best grounding for industry employment.

I think students have a better foundation (and a greater advantage) when they undertake industry-relevant training—I know I did. And a big part of this is the support. I really enjoy passing on my experience to students and equipping them for the industry.

Frances is a qualified trainer and assessor in accordance with VETAB requirements and holds the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

In addition, Frances has been lecturing in travel and tourism colleges for the past ten years. Her aim is to encourage people wishing to enter the travel and tourism industry and to help those already employed in travel to update their skills. She is thoroughly enjoying the challenge of passing on her travel and tourism knowledge to her students.
