Helen Jones has over ten years experience as a graphic designer, desktop publisher and design teacher. Now, Helen manages the very busy and highly successful design studio, Highland Graphics, with her husband Steven Jones.

Established in the early 1990s, Highland Graphics is a multifaceted design studio which caters to clients throughout Australia. Highland Graphics takes a holistic approach in working closely with marketing departments to fulfil client design requirements—from branding and identity design to promotional items, packaging and advertising to displays, books and websites. Your tutor, Helen Jones, has an exciting history. Prior to joining her husband Steven in their design studio in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales, Helen trained and practised as a Cordon Bleu chef in London as well as throughout the United Kingdom. Later, Helen returned to Australia where she taught extensively as a secondary teacher in Victoria and New South Wales, while teaching in the design and hospitality fields. It was around this time that Helen also became active in professional teaching associations and took on Higher School Certificate marking.

Both Helen and Steven are members of the Australian Graphic Design Association, which allows them to keep up with current trends while maintaining contact with other graphic designers.

Helen is also a member of the Business Womens Network in the Southern Highlands and has been on the steering committee for the past four years. In 2004, Helen was invited to act as mentor to a group of business women in a highly successful initiative of the New South Wales Department of State and Regional Development designed to assist women who have been in business for less than five years.

With a Bachelor of Education, Helen is no stranger to learning. Helen believes that skills developed in any capacity are transferable. She also believes that creativity comes in many forms and that passion, enthusiasm and application provide the key to learning, which in turn fosters understanding and self-expression.
