Helga Nilsen is a qualified educator and trainer and assessor across a number of vocational areas. Her practical experience—gained over 20 years—has covered fields such as training and assessment, design, administration, adult education, secondary school education, business management, writing books and articles, designing and developing course materials.

Helga has run a successful design business for 20 years which has developed her strong management and administration skills. In addition, she has established ongoing business relationships with many different industry contacts. This has enabled her to gain an understanding of requirements and standards in varied vocational disciplines.
Through the years, a constant part of Helga’s career has been devoted to education and training. She has a wealth of experience as a trainer and assessor with a number of training organisations, giving her in-depth knowledge of student learning and workplace environments.

Helga’s many training roles have included work with design schools and teaching institutions, and she has delivered training courses and seminars for Surf Lifesaving NSW, Asthma Foundation NSW, Building Designers Association, Randwick Historical Society, Sydney Building Information Centre and others.

Helga is an experienced educator who has trained students from a diverse range of age groups and cultural backgrounds, and from beginners to advanced level.

“It is great to tutor such a diverse range of students,” says Helga, “helping them to develop varied skills and to achieve their goals, while at the same time observing them draw out the best in themselves.”

Helga has designed and developed lesson programs, assessment projects and learning materials for students from all walks of life.

Helga’s qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts, Post Graduate Diploma in Education, NSW Department of Education Teacher’s Certificate, Interior Decorating Certificate from the Design Institute, and she is TAA qualified in Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.
