Jane Goulding has 20 years experience in print media ranging from provincial newspapers in England to magazines and custom media publications in Australia.

Jane began her career as a reporter on a weekly newspaper, the Bromsgrove Advertiser/Messenger, with a circulation of 80,000. It was at the here that Jane developed her reporting skills from covering council meetings to court rounds, as well as news and feature writing.

With her talents as a reporter emerging, Jane was soon offered the position of Editor, where she was responsible for managing the editorial team, commissioning features and articles, and supervising and training new journalists. Jane was editor of the paper for 18 months before leaving England to live in Sydney.

In Australia, Jane changed tack slightly and became a sub-editor for Vogue Living, then feature writer for design magazine, Belle.
Jane then decided to establish her own public relations and magazine writing business so she could work from her home in Sydney and spend more time with her growing family. Some of her assignments have included subbing and writing for custom media publications including Optus and Austar. Her magazine clients have included Foxtel, Austar, Good Weekend, Vogue Entertaining, Vogue Children, Mode, Portfolio, real estate company Leaders, and pharmaceutical company Fisons.

“Magazine writing is different to newspaper journalism,” Jane says. “Having worked in both the magazine and newspaper industries, I have a broader experience of what’s involved.”

Her portfolio of experience covering both local and international markets has given Jane some valuable insights into the industry that she passes on to her students through her Course and tutoring.
