Welcome to Melissa’s colourful and rewarding world of child care!

Melissa has been involved in the early childhood field for 20 years since graduating from University. She has had a broad range of experience in preschool, family day care, school outdoor adventure camps and long day care.

“Early childhood is a fascinating career, that is constantly changing and developing,” says Melissa. “I can’t imagine working in a more loving, rewarding environment—and I try to pass on that experience, as much as possible, to my students.”

Melissa’s portfolio of experience includes supporting special needs children to integrate into Preschool programs; liaising with support groups, professionals and parents; educational planning, programming and implementation; and directing centre operations.

One of Melissa’s major accomplishments involves setting up a 59-place child care centre for the owners—from the final construction details, fit out, licensing to recruiting and filling positions for both staff and children. The finished centre was nominated for and won the small business award for early childhood centres for the local area.
The centre was based on Emotional Intelligence and was the first centre in Australia to be accrediated as an EQ4Kids centre. After leaving the centre, Melissa continues to work with EQ4Kids and is working on developing the program for early childhood.

“I love being around children,” Melissa says. “Every day is different as children explore and take delight in their ever expanding world. What a cardboard box is to us .... to a child it could be a car, a cubby, a boat—the list is limitless.”

Melissa holds a wealth of qualifications including a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) and a Diploma of Teaching (Early Childhood).
