Welcome to Robin’s adventurous world of journalism and magazine publishing!

As a journalist, sports writer, travel writer, photographer, editor and magazine publisher for over 20 years, Robin Copeland has led an incredibly adventurous and exciting life. His career has taken him all over the world, to exotic locations and inspiring destinations—what a life!

Robin was brought up in the West Indies and West Africa, later graduating from London University and migrating to Australia. Robin started out in journalism as a sports writer for his university magazine. He then spent 15 years in the computer industry, ending up as Manager of Communications and Information Systems with the giant American computer company, Burroughs Corporation (now Unisys). During that time he contributed to various journals on a freelance writing basis, while travelling to over 50 different countries.

“I turned down big salaries and permanent employment for small cheques and infrequent jobs in the early ’80s,” Robin says. “But I was having fun writing and sailing! One thing led to another—I started up my own magazine (Afloat) in October 1989.”

Robin became Assistant Editor ofOffshore and also Radio Newsreader and Producer for 2RPH in Sydney, and branched into television as a guest commentator for Channel Nine.

Robin is now a journalist, photographer and publisher. He is the Editor of the successful magazine Afloat and he manages Sea Publications, a business that publishes a range of magazines and newsletters.

“I’m earning more now than I ever did, doing exactly what I want to do and I’m having fun … still!

Some of the reasons for Robin’s success is his desire not to compromise on his dreams.

This is a wonderful opportunity for students to share in Robin’s adventure, and take advantage of his years of experience as a journalist, sports writer, travel writer, photographer, editor and magazine publisher. You will simply love this course and feel inspired with Robin as your tutor!
