Certified Nanny and Childcarer Course
Entry Requirements

You don't need any previous experience to undertake the course; however, you will need to have a willingness to learn and the desire to succeed.

  • no previous experience is required
  • a reasonable command of written English
  • access to a standard computer to undertake Cybertots online is optional (undertaking Cybertots is recommended but not compulsory to the course)
  • you undertake around 15 days of assessment in a childcare placement across the duration of the course. This can be in a child care centre or as an agency placement for a family. You can do this as a day here, a day there or you can do it in one block.
  • a Basic First Aid Certificate or willingness to undertake before completing the course (Advanced First Aid may also be required by some Councils)
  • as little as an hour a week to learn

The personal attributes you will need to have include:

  • an interest in children
  • patience, maturity and a willingness to accept responsibility
  • good organisation skills
  • ability to work with young children
  • ability to work unsupervised
  • good communication skills
  • a willingness to learn and the desire to succeed
